Flat Stanley changes colors and meets himself

Hello,

It is now fall in Seattle which means that the weather is getting cooler and the trees are changing colors.  I had a chance to explore some local neighborhoods to see the beautiful colors of the changing leaves.  There are lots of different sorts of trees here.  Some stay green all year long but some change colors and lose their leaves when the weather gets cooler.  When they change color they are really pretty.

Aren't these trees beautiful?

As fall comes and the weather gets cooler and it begins to rain a lot in Seattle., the trees change color but it also means that I need a coat to keep me warm and dry when I am outside.  Fortunately, I was able to find a flat coat here in Seattle since I didn't bring one with me from Texas.  (Traveling by mail is convenient but it isn't easy to bring luggage).  I wore my new coat today on my adventures so I have changed colors just like the trees.

Who's that in the tree?

How do you like my new coat?

It sure is nice to be warm and dry outside.

Seattle is a big city with lots of neighborhoods full of trees like the one's in my pictures but it also has a downtown area with lots of tall buildings.  Many of the neighborhoods are on large hills which means I can see really far.  I found a park on my walk with a great view of all the buildings downtown.  I even got to see the Seattle Space Needle which was built for the 1962 World's Fair.

I think it looks  like a Space Ship on a stick.

Seattle is surrounded by lots of water so there aren't roads to go everywhere that people want to go.  People use large ferries to take them across the water when the roads stop.  The ferries are really big boats that hold people and cars and trucks and bicycles.  They are like roads on the water.  In Seattle you can watch ferries come and go all day long helping people get where they want to go.

These ferries look small because they are far away.
They are full of people and cars and bicycles getting where they want to go.

Lots of people come to visit Seattle every year so it is common to meet other travelers of all types.  I met a fellow traveler today on my walk around Seattle and you know what?  He was flat too and his name was also Stanley!

Stanley, meet Stanley.

Staying warm and dry.

We are HUGE fans of your blog. How cool that you got to meet another Stanley!

Since you are such a good traveler, we were wondering if you would like to come to West Lafayette for Christmas this year. I'm sure we could find a nice, flat bed for you and we'd love to meet you in person. Let us know if you think you can make the trip!

  2. West Lafayette friends,

What a generous offer. I really do like traveling so I would really enjoy seeing some additional places. I accept your offer and I am looking forward to seeing if West Lafayette is like Seattle.

  5. Patrick,

I'm glad that your class likes the blog. It is fun to share my adventures with you and your classmates. I am looking forward to doing more exploring here in the northwest and I will be sure to share it with you here. I hope that you are having some fun adventures back in Texas as well. I can't wait to here about them when I return.
